Webinaire – Beyond Clinical Measures: Developing and Validating Patient-Reported Outcome Measures

Résumé & objectifs :

Clinical measures provide important information about disease severity and functioning, but they do not necessarily capture how patients experience their health and its impact on everyday life. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) complement clinical assessments by directly capturing outcomes that matter to patients.

This webinar offers insights into selected aspects of PROM development and validation, including identifying relevant outcomes, measurement properties, and reporting perspectives.

Two empirical examples will illustrate these processes and related methodological challenges: The development and validation of the COMunication and ATAXia (COMATAX) measure and a study examining discrepancies between self- and proxy-reported health-related quality of life in people living with dementia. Together, these examples highlight that meaningful outcome measurement requires consideration not only of how well an instrument performs, but also whose perspective it represents.
